The following nozzle orifice sizes are available:

.070" Wedge Nozzle -- Used for application to utility rights-of-way when drops of 150 to 300 feet are required or in other situations requiring large spray droplets. The droplet size is about 3500 micrometers. Spray volumes of 15 to 25 gallons/acre are usually applied.

.045" Wedge Nozzle -- Widely used for utility rights-of-way and forest management applications. The droplet size is about 2000 micrometers. Spray volumes of 15 to 25 gallons/acre are usually applied.

.030" Wedge Nozzle -- Becoming more popular for forest management herbicide applications and some ditchbank and pipeline work. The droplet size is about 1500 micrometers. Spray volumes of 5 to 15 gallons/acre are usually applied.

.020" Wedge Nozzle -- a low volume nozzle used primarily for application of herbicides to rangeland. Droplet size is about 1000 micrometers. Spray volumes of two to 5 gallons/acre are usually applied.

The droplet sizes given above are for reference only. Actual droplet size will vary with forward speed of the aircraft, with higher speeds giving smaller droplet sizes. The TVB® can be operated at speeds of 25 to 180 mph, with smooth airflow characteristics at all speeds. Right-of-way applications are usually made at 25 to 35 mph, forestry applications at 45 to 90 mph, and rangeland applications at 60 to 140 mph. Many herbicides are more effective at smaller droplet sizes, using .045" and .030" nozzles. The .070", nozzles used for long drops, and the .060" (hayrake) nozzles used on the Microfoil* Boom, probably have droplets which are too large for optimum results with many herbicides. Spray volume/acre with the TVB® Spray Boom is determined by choice of nozzle, by boom pressure and by choice of control orifices.
