TVB® Thru Valve Boom®

TVB® on an Air Tractor using .030" wedge nozzles to apply insecticides to crops, applying 2 gallons per acre at 120 mph.
  • APPLY an accurate rate of pesticides and lower your costs.
  • MAINTAIN a uniform application rate across the spray swath to keep crop selectivity and avoid injury.
  • PROTECT the environment by keeping the pesticides on target.

INTRODUCTION

The TVB® is a precision application device which enables the vegetation manager to apply herbicides, insecticides and plant growth regulators accurately, uniformly and on target.

The TVB® was developed to enable operators of fixed-wing aircraft to apply herbicides quickly and accurately. Continuing development allows helicopter and fixed-wing applicators to apply pesticide sprays to forests, rangeland, cropland, aquatic sites, and utility rights-of-way on target and at the desired rate.

Unlike any previously known spray device, the TVB® will produce particles free of aerosol at speeds of 100 to 180 mph and greater. At low airspeeds up to 20 mph, these droplets simply spread out to form a swath and fall to the ground by gravity to give a uniform spray pattern on the ground. At higher speeds of 50 to 180 mph, the forward motion of these droplets is sufficient to make them unstable. With minimal shear action, the droplets tend to flatten out from the continued forward motion and form "donut" shaped droplets with essentially no aerosol, allowing for the spraying of herbicides and other pesticides from helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft with greatly reduced risk of injury to non-target vegetation.
